Questions, a lot of questions about Berkeley

@Jweinst1‌ so it would be an awesomely thrillin adventure if i was livin on South Side and still ventured out?? jk haha. thanks for your advice i need such informations

@mothergoldenbear‌ thanks again!! so if i like be aware of my environment and be cognizant and know where i am walking, it shud be just fine?? i mean I don’t want to be with an escort all my life hehehe
oh and thanks for d info about the twins… I’ll pass it on to dem if they evr ask me that is !!
btw in what exact ways is UCLA more fun than Cal?? :D

UCLA might have more shopping malls near by like the Grove, and there is Hollywood not far away. But not all college students at UCLA can afford to really have fun in the city.

Berkeley and the Bay Area are way more pedestrian friendly. Public transportation is also better than L.A. You will not need a car to get around. Football is played on-campus.

@mathjj It’s nothing real … just perception. It may be totally inaccurate

Berkeley all the way!

@Jweinst1‌ yes, money is quite a big prob for me… i doubt so if I can afford a kind of fun you talk abt…but apart from the surrounding cities, wich is better as a university - in the respect of say student life?? UCLA or will it be UC Berkeley?

@UCBChemEGrad‌ thanks for dat bit of info… Berkeley seems to be winning here

@mothergoldenbear‌ yeah maybe. Though the Cal folks try real hard to shrug off opinions that you know UCLA is maybe more fun that Cal haha lolz…

@BearFacts‌ can you pls give some ‘facts’ for that hehehehe

Mathjj

I think you might like the Berkeley student life better. Going out with your friends to dinner and coffee is very laid back, people like to stop and chat about things. I felt like UCLA is more glitzy and glamorous, where everyone dresses up extra fancy when they go out, the girls where tons of make up etc. I just think Berkeley is less fake perhaps. I mean, I have a dream of owning the largest mansion in malibu and playing golf at the Beverly Hills country club, but for college I wanted a place where I can make friends easily and grow and prosper into a successful person, and Berkeley is that place for me.

@mathjj‌ it depends on how you define ‘fun’. Both UCLA and Cal have nice campus and both have big time sports programs. Football, a quintessential American college experience, is played on campus at Cal while you’d need to bum a ride to Pasadena to get to games for UCLA.

If you’re into culture, LA has culture and the beaches, but they’re dispersed and you need a car to get anywhere worthwhile off campus. Cal is a short BART (metro) ride to San Francisco, one of the most beautiful cities in the world with plenty of culture, restaurants and parks with great public transportation.

In your intended field of study (CS), only Stanford can compare with Berkeley in reputation, not to mention the startup culture and opportunities next to SV. Plus, you can continue your obsession of your twin cousins at Berkeley! Good luck.

@Jweinst1‌ did u’attend the two campuses??

@cadave‌ thanks fr tuning in!! i cant afford a car… so will LA be a pain for me?? n what exactly does ‘culture’ mean?? Like people talk abt it quiet a lot bt i dunno what it exactly is… sorry for my ignorance…
N yes I noe Berkeley CS is amazing n I am guessing i will thrive in the competition

also will i be messed up at UCLA or UC Berkeley if i am a loner??

By culture, I mean the arts, museums, concerts, and the like. You will definitely need a car to get anywhere in LA. Let us know what you decide.

going to UCLA… THNX TO ALL FR helping me!!!
