Questions about ACT/SATs, SAT subject tests, and letters of recommendations?

Hey, again!

I just have a couple questions that I wanted to throw out to the Muhlenberg-related community:
1) SAT/ACT's: We didn't have the money for me to take them this spring, and do you think taking the first dates in fall will have any affect? I mean, besides not being able to take them again (I've already taken practices for both and have a few more practice exams in books). I've decided to go early decision, and it worries me because the SAT isn't till October - and you don't get the scores till late October. I really want to be in the first string of applicants, you know?

2) SAT subject tests: Does Muhlenberg have any stance on these? I've searched there website but haven't been able to find anything about it.

3) Letters of recommendation: Since I'm an online student, the only person who counts as a "teacher" is the person who proctors my exams and enrolls me in classes; the admissions counselor I was interviewed by told me that the director of my theatre is a fine replacement as a teacher (since he's pretty much a mentor), but I don't know what he would fill out, if he fills out anything. The teacher recommendations on the Common App are very strictly teacher-student related, and it wouldn't work for him to fill that out. Does someone have past experience with what non-academic relationships do for writing recommendations?

I'm going to email the admissions counselor that interviewed me about these, as well, but I just wanted to see if anyone with experience on this side of admissions has any answers?

Thanks!

Lovingtheater, re: the SAT questions, I’m assuming that since you posted this over a week ago, you’ve learned by now that Muhlenberg is SAT-optional! I noticed that, on a different thread, somebody told you you’d be a good contender if your scores were “in the ballpark,” but in fact your scores may not matter; and based on what I’ve seen with applicants at the school where I teach, your grades are competitive. You’ve visited and plan to audition, both of which should be a big help. For what it’s worth, my son and I visited in late April and saw a theater production (“Three Sisters,” wonderful show)–we were extremely impressed. Good luck! And try to stay relaxed about those SATs…but it would be interesting to hear what they say about recommendations for an “online” student!
