Questions about Brown :)

Are the humanities and social science programs good?

My possible majors include political science (most probable one), history, philosophy and international relations (though I’m not sure this is a major?). I’m also interested in economics, German, literature and film (just for courses or as possible minors).

So could anyone please tell me about Brown’s strengths in these areas?

Is the application already online? The website says the forms will be available mid-August, but it is now 17th of August and I can’t find them.

Thank you! :)

international relations is a major!
i think brown is pretty strong in international relations, with the watson institute and all. we have some pretty good professors for political science too.
and at brown, we dont have minors

Thanks! Anyone else?

And also, if Brown doesn't have minors, does it offer an alternative to those?

minors don't make any sense at brown because the curriculum is open. you can concentrate in which ever field you chose (or double major or triple major), and beyond that you can take any classes you want.

For what it's worth, you listed some of our most popular concentrations. Philosophy, comparative literature, German, and Modern Culture and Media (film, but more theory and not very much production if at all) are all very strong here at Brown. International relations is one of the top three most popular concentrations at Brown. I'll echo what DCircle said about minors and go one step further-- at most places, minors don't make much sense nor mean much.

The three most popular concentrations at Brown are Biology, History, and then International Relations. Comp Lit is also high up there...

Ok, thanks for the info! :)
