Hi. I am a current 8th grader and I have some questions about the IMSA application process. For the essays, are we allowed to include personal information like our family situation? Because I wanted to include that I have a big family with 5 kids and financial distress. But I really want to get into IMSA because it is my passion. Could I add that in my essay? Also, in my MAP score, I went down 5 points in Math this year compared to last year. Will IMSA be looking at that type of information. And if they do will that affect me in a negative way? Thank you very much!
Hi. As for your financial situation, I would include that in the optional information section. This is meant to tell the committee about why you may not have the same opportunities as other applicants. You CAN include that in your essay as well. IMSA, as far as I know, does not consider MAP scores. Good luck in your application process!
