Questions About the Articles in the Yale Daily News About Secret Societies

Would some serious current student or graduate tell me what these clubs are really like and how they affect the social life? I'm trying to choose between Harvard, Yale and Princeton and I can't visit. I feel like the social question is important to me and I read the articles from the Yale Daily News. Are the secret societies fun and is that where all the parties are? What are the other options for kids if they aren't old enough to drink? It looks like you can't apply to be in these clubs and have to wait to get chosen but do most people get in who want to? I'm sorry if these questions have already been answered but I'd really like serious questions about the social life. I look at college confidential a lot but this is the first time I'm posting so be nice. I'm asking the same questions on the Harvard board and I was going to on the Princeton board but then I found a lot of people have already asked the same questions over there. Thanks.
