Hello, I am a new Smithie, and if you know something about the common international students personal expenses(for example: the books) per year in smith, eg:how much do I need to pay . please tell me. thank you very much

It really depends. For your first semester, definitely factor in a high amount; not only will you be buying things like linens, fans, etc., you also won't have the time available to shop around for the cheapest books. I don't remember exactly how much I spent, but it was close to the $700-$1000 range when everything was factored in (I came from the west coast, and anything that didn't fit into my two suitcases just didn't make the trip).

After that, the cost goes down considerably. If you shop around, you can usually find your books for about $200 or less per semester. You may also go out once a week or so, and you'll need spending money for personal care items, etc. I'd say about $1000 for the year would be sufficient. You could spend more, but really, the people I know who go through a lot of money either a)spent too much on things they didn't really need or b)got stuck having to buy brand new textbooks that cost $200 a pop.

Thank you smithiegar, now I'm not afraid of not having enough money to live there.
