Questions about UCSC

I know that UC schools require a visual arts course to be taken but I took one for only one trimester so does this mean I will be denied admissions and can anyone supply information on the following:

Dorms
parties
Social life
Girls
Academics
Campus feel
Campus appeal,looks
Classes
Greek Life
Surrounding city
Financial Aid

And how do I major in pre med or is it a bunch of classes? Unsure how it works?
Thanks

Greek Life
Surrounding city
Financial Aid, scholarships

If you do not meet the a-g course requirements, then yes you should be denied regardless of your Stats or recruitment; however, that is in a perfect world where all applicants are reviewed equally. I would check with the recruitment coach to see how this impacts your admission.
Pre-Med is a list of classes that are required to apply to Med School which includes Bio/Chem/Calculus etc… And you can major in anything as long as you meet the requirements. I will see if I can find the course list later. I would take care of Arts requirement first.

Here is a link for most of the Medical school requirements. Some schools may require additional courses so you need to check each Med school you eventually plan to apply.

I would definitely visit the campus before making any decision. UCSC is not for everyone. Beautiful campus but both my sons really do not like that the location was not ideal, close to town along with the "vibe.

Thanks alot!

Heard that it’s beautiful but lots of people are major potheads. I don’t know if that’s true but the ppl I know who go there say that’s an accurate characterization

My daughter goes there and isn’t remotely interested in the drug culture – she hasn’t felt that it is an issue. Greek life is minimal, at least compared to other schools we visited. The campus is gorgeous and it is very easy to get into downtown Santa Cruz as the local metro buses have a few on campus stops, and school ids give you free transport on them. Do you really need someone to tell you about girls? Dorms vary, depending on your residential college (which will also affect party atmosphere and drug culture). My daughter is in Crown, which is divided in houses. The house she’s in has three floors with one co-ed bathroom per floor. She is very happy she decided to attend UCSC
