Questions for BinghamtonU

1) When do you take your math placement test? Kids in my school that are going to like Pennstate are taking theirs this week and other schools are doing it early. I heard you do it during orientation?

2) When do you pay for housing and tuition?

3) Hows the food at binghamton :P?

4) We make course selections during orientation. What is the online bingbuilder thing for? (The online course registration/scheduling..)

1) you only take the math test if you want to take Math 221, ie calc 1 and yes you take it at orientation. [Beginnings - Binghamton University New Student Information](<a href=“Orientation | New Student Programs | Binghamton University”>Orientation | New Student Programs | Binghamton University) and see further links there for more info

2) not sure on timing of billing – i think you should get a bill over the summer

4) bingbuilder is a website designed by a student to help with scheduling – you don’t actually register at bingbuilder – bingbuilder is an easy way to play around with different possible schedules and see what they look like. it’s an easy way to look up classes and make up alternate possible schedules – you can save, i think, 3 versions. you can also search for classes by gen ed requirements. you can check the enrollment in the course so you see how many seats are left. its a pretty useful tool – but always check the official course listing as well. i don’t believe bingbuilder has official university status – but it can be very helpful.

The food is pretty good, and reasonsably priced in the dining halls, but as with any college food… it can get pretty boring after awhile.

5) When do we pay for tuition?

6) For the Calc Screening Test, I don’t understand how its going to work for the kids who only took so far Pre-Calc…

7) Submit your health form & immunity requirements to University Health Services as soon as possible. If you have any questions regarding these forms, please contact Health Services by email or phone: (607) 777-2221. (Note: Submission of this material is in accordance with NYS Public Health Laws, and you may not register for classes until this is received.) What is that all about?

5) you should recieve an email over the summer stating that your semester bill is ready to be paid. Once you get that you can go to bubrain –>student accounts and pay your tuition bill

6) The screening test is for certain people. The only thing I can tell you is to go to the link above or contact admissions. They should be able to give you more information.

7) All Freshman need to fill out health forms and immunization records before they can move in. If health services do not receive these they will not allow you to register for classes until you do submit them. I suggest you contact health services to make sure you get all the forms you need.

i think the health forms have to be in before you go for orientation since that is when you register for classes and you can’t register without those forms having been received. here’s more info about the forms [Binghamton University - Health Form](http://www2.binghamton.edu/health/new-students/health-form.html)

re the math test – you need to pass it to take calc 1. you don’t need to know calc – its to make sure you have a good pre-calc basis so you are ready to tackle calc. look at the link i gave above AND the links within it to the math dept for more information-- if you follow thru those links you should be able to end up here – [The Screening Test](http://www.math.binghamton.edu/Calculus/Screening.html) and there is a sample test you can link to on that page as well as additional information about the screening test.

in my prior post i said you only had to take screening test if you want to take math 221, calc 1. when i looked at the site i reference in this post i also saw it is needed to take either math 221 OR math 220 (calculus for business or management) – so i just wanted to include that so no one reading this thinks they can take math 220 without taking the screening test.

8) I am currently admitted to Harpus - Biological Science Major… I was wondering if I can somehow get onto the pre-dental track at binghamton? Should I wait till orientation to tell them or should I call them? Call the shots for me :P

and thank you soo much for your responses, you dont understand how much of a help you guys are

With the different tracks at Binghamton, you do not have to be of a certain major to go that specific track. What “track” implies is that those courses are what is generally needed to get into Graduate School. Those are the minimum requirements. This is NOT a major though so you would have to choose a major, fulfill those reqs and then fulfill the track requirements on top of that. For example, a lot of people do Biology or Chemistry as a Major and call themselves as following the “Pre-Med Track.” Here is the pre-dental website: [Binghamton University - Academics: Schools and Colleges: Harpur Advising: Pre-Health: Curriculum: Dentistry](http://www2.binghamton.edu/pre-health/curriculum/dentistry.html)
