I hear that job prospects are bad for civil engineering students because most jobs are looking for experienced (8+ years) candidates. How are your chances of getting a job for civil engineering at Cooper Union.

Civils always find jobs. You may have to put in some time working for a firm, paying your dues. But I think Civils have the best opportunity to go out on their own and be consultants and independent contractors which will make you a lot of money a little later in your career. Think about how much infrastructure there is in this country -and in very bad condition- and how much is still needed. This country will need roads, mass transit, airports/improvements, water, and many other public works projects. All of this needs young, energetic engineers with good work ethics. Good luck! If Civil is what you love, then just do it.
