Questions from the parent of a transfer student

Dd will be enteredin UBC as a 3rd year student in the Fall. She is a US resident and we live in California.

My questions, so far have to do with banking and cell phones.

Banks - we need to find a bank where I can transfer money from our US account to an account for dd.

Cell phones - she plans to use Skype to call home, but will need some type of phone for use in Canada. Any suggestions on a carrier, or pay as you go?

If there is somewhere on the UBC website I can go for this information, just point me there.

Thanks.

I used to live in Ontario so I can help out a little. Although I’m not sure if everything is the same in Vancouver. For a bank, you can go to CIBC or TD Canada. For cellphone services try Bell, Fido, Telus, or Rogers. I don’t live there anymore so I can’t really tell you anything cost-wise.
