My goal in life is to work for the FBI as a special agent. I know that the job acceptance is strictly competitive. I have looked on the official website and understood the requirements for new special agents.

Currently, I'm a senior in high school, and I know I have a long way to go. But I am motivated to work for the government related services, like the FBI. I want to have a purpose in this world by protecting lives but I also want to make a proper income.

My plan:
I will be majoring in accounting for bachelors degree. Also, I am Chinese, though I will have to take classes to maintain proper fluency.

I feel like I'm sort of ahead of the game, but not really because there must other people who will/already have the same skills as me or more.

These questions are meant to help me become more competitive and likely to be accepted:

Should I go onto masters degree?
Should I double major? If so, what do you think?
What classes should I take to better help me adjust to FBI situations?
What internships should I take? I already have thought about taking FBI Volunteer Internship/Honors Internship.

Thanks for your time for reading and I hope it peaked your interest!

Welp, I’m in high school too, but I have friends and an aunt who works for the FBI, so I can give you the advice they gave me (I’m not interested in law enforcement, but they like to talk…).
Masters degrees help. But you can still get in with a bachelor’s. Foreign languages are a huge plus. Especially if you have more than one and it’s not just Spanish. Actually, one guy told me that French is great too, because of the higher-level crime in France or something like that they deal with. I honestly didn’t pay much attention, because I’m not interested in French. But if you could become fluent in Chinese that’d be great.
BE SUPER FIT because the physical requirements and training program is harsh. Look them up. There’s info on their website about the trials and crap so you can start training for them if your heart so desires.
I don’t know about classes. It probably doesn’t really matter. Criminal justice and stuff would probably help just to make sure you want to deal with the legal side of it and all that.
Internships: just take what you can get that interests you, mate. College is competitive for internships. Find something you’d like doing and take it.
Real world experience is most vital though. So yeah, internships, work, etc. Most people don’t get hired right out of college though. They may have been cops or something for years OH I ALMOST FORGET what would be most likely to help you the most is experience in the armed forces. So join the marines or something. Or don’t if you don’t want to. But they dig the military type.
Yeahhhh that’s pretty much it. Just make sure you have some kind of backup plan that you’d like doing since you’re unlikely to be hired right out of college and even in the years after. Also, for the love of all things, do not join the military just to get into the FBI. You will majorly hate your life.

@GB1904 Thank you very much for all this helpful information! Ah, I don’t think I will be in the military hahaha! During my college years, I’ll work out so much to overdo achieve the fitness requirements so I won’t get nervous. Plus, I still need to stay fit. I think I’m going to stick with Chinese. And I thought about criminal justice but so many people have degrees on that. So I was thinking maybe I should get onto the technology side, like computer forensics or something. Thanks for the advice again!

Oh yes! I DID forget! Tech degrees like computer science/engineering are apparently pretty highly sought after in the FBI, so if you like that, I’d say go for it! Computer forensics sounds awesome!
