Hi, I was in the Band from 5th-10th grade but was unable to fit band into my schedule in 11th grade. If I do NOT do it Senior year, is it basically worthless to put it on my application (5th-10th). What if I did do band Senior year (5th-10th, 12th), how would that affect the way colleges look as me?

Also, our HS Marching Band has won several state/national awards. Is it worth mentioning that we placed in 2nd in Nationals or will colleges just overlook this (since it is a team/group award, not individual).

Thanks

If you have no other EC's involving band, they'll be skeptical, and also in your Guidance Rec, the counselor will tell the college if you were a key part of the band or not.

If you like band, try to join music groups such as jazz group, woodwind group.

If you like band do in senior year. Tell your gc to let colleges know that you were unable to participate in band due to scheduling conflicts. I'm sure it's fine. I had a friend who couldn't fit it in his soph and junior year, took it in
9th and 12th and got into Yale (he had other things as well).
