Do you think that someone who was rejected from UNC EA In State (60% acceptance rate), Haverford ED1, and Vassar ED2 might have a chance at Whitman? My SAT is 2150 (with roughly 720 in each section) and my SAT Subject Tests are 730 in Math 2 and 720 in Physics.
I think that I was rejected from the other schools because I am completely autodidactic and thus lack classroom experience. Does Whitman place more or less emphasis on academics than interaction?
It’s quite difficult balancing a labor-intensive job with teaching myself multivariable calculus. The stream of rejections are starting to make it seem all for naught.
Your question is thought provoking, but I think you need to clarify. Did you attend high school at all, do you have an academic record and teachers, or mentors, who wrote letters of recommendation? How old are you? You have certainly done well on the SAT so there must be an interesting story in that. Did you apply to other schools, including Whitman, for regular decision deadlines? Whitman values self motivation and determination, so they may be more receptive to a nontraditional educational journey than the other schools you’ve mentioned, but I think we need more information to be able to even try to answer your question.
Because your rejections came early they probably have had a disproportionate impact on you. It’s way too early to be discouraged. Whitman will love to read your application – it sounds like it will be one of the more interesting ones they see. Your previous rejections are no reason to think the outcome won’t be positive for you at Whitman. Though as @bopampo implied, you are a bit of an enigma. All the better for you.
