Quick FAFSA Question

FAFSA says the 2008 Tax Returns are a required document, but my parents won't have that until Feb 20. They have their 2007 Tax Returns. What am I supposed to do?

Select 'will file' for type of tax return and use your best estimate for 2008 income. You will have to come back and update it when they actually file their taxes. Assets s/b accurate as of the day you file FAFSA as , generally, they are not supposed to be adjusted later.

Can I still submit it to schools? WashU's deadline for FAFSA is Jan 15.

Yes. You can submit it then correct later. No one (or barely anyone) has there taxes done by Jan.

why is it necessary to file it now if we just have to go back and correct it after taxes are done?

Please help!

The aid that you may receive that pertains to the FAFSA is given on a first come, first serve basis.

Anyone know how quickly Professional help filing the FAFSA - Federal Student Financial Aid Application submits these applications? When they submit it, has it been officially entered or is it only when you have signed it with the pin?

^ WARNING: That's the WRONG site. These are people trying to jip you money so they can help you FILL OUT the fafsa.

It's FinAid! Financial Aid, College Scholarships and Student Loans . Be forewarned, don't type in .com by mistake. It's .org

Crystal is correct that you shoul not use the fafsa.com site. It is a commercial site that charges you $80.

The correct site is the .ed.gov site
FAFSA - Free Application for Federal Student Aid
not the finaid site linked which is an excellent source of information about financial aid, but is not the FAFSA site.

FAFSA stands for the Free Application for Federal Student Aid. If you are being charged you are at the wrong site.

Word of advice on those pay-to-file FAFSA sites....99% of the time the FAFSA application is submitted so incorrectly that you will automatically be pulled for verification...IF the schools even receive the completed FAFSA. The FAFSA is not very complicated and paying to submit what can be done for free isn't necessary. If you get stuck on a question, you can call the FAFSA Technical Support line for free assistance.
