Quick Grammar Question***

This references Question 50 of English Practice Section 3 (p.169) in my Princeton 1,296 ACT book.

Anderson's model was different from todays models, though, because it was hand-activated by a lever from inside the car.
* "todays models," is underlined.

F. NO CHANGE
G. today's models,
H. todays' models
J. today's models

I picked choice J, but the correct answer is G. Can you explain why a comma is need after "models"? It seems awkward to pause there if you read it out loud.

Thank you so much!

The comma is needed to set off the word ‘though’ which interjects the sentence and does not need to be there. The following sentence would also work:

Anderson’s model was different from today’s models because it was hand-activated by a lever from inside the car.

H. Basic grammar. :)

Yours,
