I'm currently a senior and I am applying to the UC schools this month, but am also taking the December test date. Technically, I am "done" with my tests, but I just took my two subject tests last week and don't know how I did. The final deadline for the SAT December tests is November 18 and the scores come out November 20.

I would rather retake my reasoning (2140) than the subjects if my subjects are 740+ Math IIC and 700+ Biology-M. However, the collegeboard has a policy that at test change has to occur 2 and a half weeks before the test date. Would I be able to change my test type on the 20th if I found out my subjects were up to par? Thanks!

If I can't retake my reasoning I've been thinking about taking the ACT, but I'd much rather take the SAT, since I'm much more accustomed to it.

Collegeboard has the policy of you calling to make a change 2-1/2 weeks before the test date to guarantee space. However, they say "If you miss the deadline for making a change, you can still try to make the change on the day of the test. Go early to the test center of your choice and explain the situation to the test supervisor. If space and materials are available, you will be admitted before standbys. You will be billed for the change fee."

As long as there are extra tests (check with the test center), you would still have priority over stand-by's. But you CAN theoretically still change. Best of luck.

Late fee $23.
Test change fee $22.
Standby fee $38.

I don't know if you still can regular-register for the December SAT - isn't it technically November 6 already?
After the final registration deadline it'll be a standby test option only.

If you missed the Nov 5 deadline, than it makes more sense to go standby:
$23 + $22 > $38.

I would try to regular-register for the SAT I (if you think you have a good shot at your target SAT II scores) right now - maybe the CB is still asleep and not aware a of a new dawn.
