Quinnipiac, Fairfield, or URI... 24 hours to make a decision!

Hello College Confidential! I am here with a major dilemma; one I'm sure many of you have once faced. I cannot choose the college to go to. I had originally chosen University of Rhode Island, but recently, Quinnipiac implied that I will be taken off the waitlist next week, and Fairfield already took me off.

I plan on going undeclared for Business(Later majoring in either Entrepreneurship, Business Administration, Economics, or Marketing), with a dual major in Media(filming). I know that all three colleges offer all of these majors(exception being Fairfield and Entrepreneurship as far as I know).

I wish to be really involved in clubs like campus radio, peer leadership, business clubs, and last but not least, a bunch of intramurals.

Now I have visited Quinnipiac before, and was blown away by the beauty of the campus. I have also visited University of Rhode Island, and the atmosphere of the campus felt incredible, as well. I will be visiting Fairfield tomorrow, where I will have to make my final decision.

I'm mostly interested in my education. Partying is not really my thing, and I don't have much care for a fraternity. But I an open person, I know that you need to go out an look for fun as it won't come to you. Money for the most part is not the problem, and while I would prefer to go to a cheaper campus, I've been told that colleges that cost more do tend to have a higher probability of having high ranking alumni with vast connections in the real world. But I do wonder, which campus has the better area? Fairfield, Hamden, or Kingston?

I am not very preppy or nerdy for the most part, and I really don't see drinking the days away as the "true college experience". I want to go to college to learn who I am, and I don't want to use my age to excuse stupid decisions. I don't mind campus size, I just want an area that isn't dull.

I appreciate any recommendations or anything, really. To end this, I will unfortunately not be able to check the replies after tomorrow, and when I'm at Fairfield, I must make my final decision(being that URI is already payed for, and that Fairfield and Quinnipiac are so close, the payments will be made in person). If you could relay any opinions or information I would truly appreciate it, as my head is very conflicted right now with excitement and confusion. Thanks in advance!

I’ve been told that colleges that cost more do tend to have a higher probability of having high ranking alumni with vast connections in the real world."

Don’t believe that statement, see how you feel after visiting all three.

You like Kingston?
Good Lord…

Alright, that’s a little reassuring. I kept feeling like the bigger numbers just represented percents, I was really hoping it not to be true… Thanks again though. The only problem is right now in this moment, I like URI just as much as Quinnipiac, so in case I end up not liking Fairfield tomorrow, I’ll be unfortunately stuck :(

I didn’t really explore the area too much, but growing up on Long Island it felt like a new breath of air. The campus seemed pretty out of the way from the actual town, but URI seemed like a quaint little town on its own to me. The geography of an area really sets most of the atomosphere for me, the rest being set by the people there. Is there something bad about Kingston that I don’t know though? x.x I’mn not too familiar with Rhode Island

Well Kingston is boring as hell.
I agree the campus and area is nice. But if you get that craving to go shopping you will have to drive an hour to Providence, even a trip to mcdonalds will take 25 minutes.

Just an update, as of 10 seconds ago, I am officially admitted into Quinnipiac! I’m excited and yet annoyed at the same time haha

my sister goes to fairfield and loves it- it’s a great school for business and my sister and her friends got great internships this year. quinnipiac is pretty much the same as fairfield but fairfield is a little bit smaller.

partyings a big part of all of your choices but i know fairfield has events every weekend like midnight bowling/broadway shows/etc. there’s no greek life (i know there is one at quinnipac and uri) and the town of fairfield is nice. it is kind of rough without a car (my sister got hers this year) but it’s close enough to new haven/nyc and still have a campus life.

good luck on your choice! let us know what happens :D
