You don’t have any meaningful discussions because the people that want to do all the talking have no real life experience. There are lots of racists who are white, black, and asian. They are poor and they are rich. There is somehow even still a south versus north mentality. Deal with the specific people responsible for the frat event. Ignore the generalizations and treat other people with respect one by one. Comments like bigoted, priviledged, brats is just another type of racism from somebody that knows they truly are the one with the answers.

I bet 99% of the students were there to drink beer, hang out with friends, meet co-eds, and have fun. They were going to a costume party, so don’t to label them as racist. There may be a grain of truth that some white students are concerned with the growing Asian population at Duke (and shrinking white population) and this needs to be explored.

Well, here is what is surely going to happen: in order to show that Duke is not “anti-Asian” or racist towards Asians, the Duke admissions office will bump up the Asian acceptance this year by another 100 or so, thus denying admission to others. It will all be so politically correct. When will people finally recognize that “racism” and “acceptance of diversity” are the third rail of university politics, admissions, and psychology. Really, a stupid frat party thus gets elevated to significant status that the Duke administration somehow has to respond to. Just you wait: the Asian admission percentage at Duke will now increase, and will be sustained. Duke must do this in order to support its Kunshan campus in China – God forbid that the Chinese think Duke is racist when it comes to Asians. This increase will be especially sad since, as well all know, Duke is the second choice for almost all Asians, who are wholly Ivy obsessed.

In the mid-'90s, Duke was the #1 choice of many HS classmates…regardless of race.

One HS buddy ended up feeling really put out when he ended up being rejected by Duke…and ended up going to Cornell.

Then again, it was common for Ivy admits back then…including HYP to be rejected by Duke in that period.
