radio DJ, newspaper at hopkins

i'm really not one for "floaty" responses, but in all honesty, it takes as much time as you're willing to give. if you volunteer for an article (or more) every week, that'll keep you pretty busy. if you volunteer for an article every other week, or once per month, that shouldn't be too bad at all. being an editor does take up a sizeable chunk of time, but again, each section requires a different amount of effort/time.

personally, i wasn't/am still not overwhelmed (still a frosh -- 1st semester went by reallly fast), but still haven't shaken off the high school habit of not enough sleep -- although, my earliest classes are at 12, which helps ; ) everyone's different though, so the above paragraph is a better reference.

that said, many of the editors are also very involved with other extra-curriculars/research.

hopkins is nice in that it allows you a lot of freedom: how many credits you take per semester, etc. if you have any questions at all, feel free to pm me or just reply to the thread haha

also, the hopkins interactive is a very useful and helpful tool to learn about hopkins from the perspectives of a somewhat diverse body of profiles -- check out the blogs whenever you're procrastinated the hell outta collegeconfidential
