Raising Awareness for School's Online Newspaper

So I’m the assistant editor of the newspaper at my school. The newspaper is online because we don’t have a lot of staff- in fact, the only other member of the club is the editor-in-chief. Until I joined the club, the editor-in-chief managed the whole thing by herself for years. Publicity for the newspaper isn’t very good either. We put posters in the hall, made announcements on the intercom, and emailed teachers, but I don’t think anyone actually goes to the website. Do you have any ideas on how to get people more involved in the club? There’s not much that I can do currently, but the editor-in-chief is a senior, and at the end of the year she is passing her title on to me. I really want to make the newspaper something great.

I don’t know much about newspaper, but maybe you could ask all the English teachers to make a brief announcement in class and encourage good writers to join.
You could also ask people to submit articles to the paper without actually having to be in the club (maybe like an op ed section). People like to see things that they made and if they tell their friends more and more people could become interested in newspaper.
Hope I helped.

Also maybe try and make some social media accounts for the newspaper and see if the school will put a link out on their website and send the link out in some official emails. Also try and do movie reviews or other things that interest students. My school’s newspaper (which I am a photographer for :stuck_out_tongue: ) has reviews of the school’s plays and movies and books. Maybe do surveys of some students and write about that? I’d love to help you through the long run if you want it. PM me.
