My daughter applied to this school EA and there is very little mentioned about this college here on CC so I decided to create this thread in the event that others are looking for it too. According to the Ramapo website it appears that decisions will be sent out by email on February 1, 2020. She applied to other colleges EA and this is the last until RD decisions come out end of March/beginning of April. Good Luck Everyone!!!
My son got his handshake and verbal decision on instant decision day back in nov but they told him official letter and merit etc won’t be released until feb
@ctillsley, Congratulations to your son. I didn’t know about instant decision day. Is it binding? Are you in state or our of state? I’m in state but DD20 attends a prep school in Mass.
DD Received EA acceptance today with Presidential Scholarship covering full tuition and fees. So Exciting!!!
how how exciting for your daughter. Did they mention her merit in her acceptance letter?
No, instant decision is not binding. If your child had certain qualifications they could go to a table at guidance and have an interview etc with admissions. They get a handshake acceptance on that day. We are In state. Our school sets them up. Most of the ones there were In state, but quinnipiac and Michigan were also there
@ctillsley - We did not get a package in the mail yet but yes, it did mention her merit in the letter on the portal and she sent me a copy. Yes, very exciting. We are awaiting RD and she was admitted to 4 other schools EA with merit but nothing like this so Ramapo is the forerunner.
@sarrip do you mind sharing her stats? Obviously I’m in NJ and we’re looking for merit for D21. I didn’t realize any of the state schools offered full tuition merit (other than Rutgers and that’s a no go for her!) Thanks!
I knew about this because DS09 applied and was awarded with the same merit however he ended up going to Princeton. To be honest, I did regret not taking advantage of it. Rutgers didn’t offer DS09 a dime so that was out of the running. I have never done a stats list for my daughter, have not participated in any chances and DD20 does not even look at this site (she would probably be mortifed if she knew that I was on here :-), but her SAT: 1460 Superscored, ACT: 31, GPA:4.02 Unweighted. She does have quite a few AP Classes under her belt. I’m not sure what else to put down. Feel free to message me if you want to know anything else.
Hello! have one son who is a soph at Ramapo, and now my second son is waiting to hear. Just wanted you to know she will love it! Anxiously awaiting to see if I will have two road runners!
@FingerscrossedinNJ - Glad to hear that your son is happy and that your second son has applied also. Was this your second son’s first choice? If so just curious as to why why didn’t he apply ED or EA?
we found out yesterday he got in! happy for him! He isn’t sure, we are doing the accepted students day at Rowan, Ramapo and West Chester so he can decide. Still waiting on 2 colleges for decisions but I think it will be between Rowan and Ramapo. He didn’t do early decision because we weren’t sure if he was going into the service and I didnt want the commitment. also being his brothers school he needs to decide if he wants to do his own thing or not. I’m excited he has options!
@FingerscrossedinNJ - Yay, I saw the post on IG that some acceptances went out yesterday. So happy that he was in that group. I totally understand them taking their own path. I was a year behind my super smart brother and it was miserable. We have, at the time a very uncommon last name so it was always obvious that we were related. I held my own but it always measured by his standard. DD20 is 11 & 14 years younger than her siblings so she never had to go through that. Which Ramapo accepted students day will you be attending? We will be attending in late March as my daughter will be home on Spring Break.
Got accepted yesterday for nursing with the Presidential Merit Scholarship as well! My GPA was lower (3.7 weighted and 3rd decile) because of medical issues my senior year and my SAT was 1440. Honestly I think extracurriculars helped me the most because I volunteer EMS and was an officer for 5 clubs.
@Purpleispurply - Congratulations!!! My daughter received the Presidential Scholarship as well. We are disappointed that we will not be able to attend the reception because she is away in prep school but will come to admitted students day.
I just signed him up for the last sunday in March because its before volleyball and we have 2 others scheduled in march, the 29th i think? you?
Congrats!!! AMazing feeling! I think you will like it there based on feedback from my sophmore there!
We will be at the same session. DD20 is in a musical at school which is playing for 3 consecutive nights. Since she has a major roll she can not miss a performance, so this is the only session that works.
Financial Aid was received today. Did everyone get it? What do you think?
I was shocked with Ramapo. My daughter applied to 12 schools. She was accepted at every school and every school EXCEPT Ramapo gave her both merit and financial aid. Absolutely NOTHING from Ramapo, which now makes it the most expensive school on her list. And going in, we thought Ramapo would be our best financial option.
