random OCD's

Not always .

i can’t wear socks on fuzzy carpets (unless they’re fuzzy socks) and i have a certain configuration for things that must be put next to my bed before i go to sleep (brush, phone, ipod, laptop, water, chapstick, etc)

Most of the time. I never get sick. Ever. Last time I was sick was probably like 3 years ago at least. And my hygiene practice most people would find appalling.

Everyone lives in a little anti bacterial bubble now a days. And all that washing and scrubbing and disinfecting does is breed new and more lethal pathogens. Then one day your bubble pops you get sick, real sick, and pray you don’t die.

Thanks for the encouraging words, but I think I’ll stick to my current practice lol
^^Yay fuzzy socks! O, and I also can’t wear socks when I’m sleeping. I always wear them all day throughout the house(usually fuzzy socks), but then I kick them off and a large collection accumulates in my bed lol

Ha. These are funny.

I won’t say all of mine, but I always set my alarm to an even time. Volume on the TV/radio must be even, too. And when I’m bored in class, I always tap my fingers as if I was typing the words I’m listening to.

I have to sleep at least 2 hours before starting homework. Even if it’s the morning.

I’ve also been diagnosed with “mild” OCD, although I do a lot of weird **** because of it. For example:

I have to check to make sure my alarm is set atleast 5 times every night.

If I raise my hand in class, I have to raise my hand again later with the OPPOSITE arm or else it’ll be unbalanced and I’ll feel non-symmetric

I don’t erase; I start over.

^Omgosh, I do that too with my alarm. However, I do it four times haha
(I’m beginning to think I have OCD, although nothing has been confirmed. I just feel this way after saying some of these things.)

reading through this thread makes me lol =]

I’m also super OCD about misbubbling on standardized tests…I do involuntary bubbling checks

Just so everyone is clear: OCD is not something to be proud of.

Yeah, people overuse the term so much, as in “wow I’m so OCD haha.” But real OCD is horrible, and I don’t think enough people know about how bad it can be.

Not that I have it, but just saying.

I agree. I don’t have it either but I hate that OCD has become cool or trendy. Just having a personal preference about something automatically makes people “OCD”, and this is coming from a person who has to add/subtract/multiply/divide all of the digits in a number until only an 8 is left. Not that I’m bashing anyone here or anything, but people at my school are so misinformed about OCD.

i don’t like particles on broad spaces (eraser filings on a piece of paper and small dots on the white board are the worst)
I’ve gotten up when the teacher was out of the room just to erase a dot on the white board because it was driving me crazy
If a piece of notebook paper has one of those unerasable gray dots on it I’ll give it to someone then get another

I always have to make sure I’m symmetric, too. If I wave at someone with my right hand, for example, I feel off-balance until I use my left hand. Also, if I do something on accident while I’m saying something, like if I brush my foot against the desk while talking, I have to repeat what I’m saying to myself while repeating the action, until it feels right. It’s hard to describe.

I’m pretty sure I have some sort of OCD. I agree, it is not something to be proud of. I feel like it’s starting to run my life.

Haha, I thought I was the only one who did the alarm thing! Glad to know I’m not alone (:
I haven’t actually been diagnosed with OCD, but it runs in my family…OCD-type things I do include:

I have two different color hangers in my closet, green and white. When I hang up my clothes I make sure that the color of each hanger is alternating 0_o

My papers have to be stapled at a 45 degree angle. If it’s off, I’ll pull out the staple and redo it until it’s right. Also, the multiple holes in the paper because of this bother me, but I try to refrain from reprinting and stapling all over again because I feel bad wasting paper

Every night before I go to sleep, I walk to the kitchen and make sure the stove is off. Sometimes I’ll be falling asleep and realize that I forgot, and even if the stove wasn’t used that day, I’ll get up and go check. (I’ve had this thing about fires ever since I was a little kid, so…?)

I love this thread, btw (:
