I don’t know if this is “best”, but we use HDPE (High Density Polyethylene Plastic) cutting boards.

We have a red one for raw meats and a white one for vegetables. I do bleach them every once in a while. Not the prettiest cutting boards, but functional and affordable.

I use my nice wood cutting board as a serving platter.

Yeah, those are the acrylic ones I was thinking of. I like them very much, but as I said, they get small cuts on them. A couple of years ago, I had to throw all mine out because it appeared they had mold in the cuts. I never thought of bleaching them. I’ll try it with my worst one and see what happens.

I use wood all the way. I’ve read reports that it is actually safer.

As far as deodarizing a wooden cutting board, here’s one way to do it. Salt and lemon work as well.

If it really bothers you, you can have more than one and only use one for odorous things like onion and garlic.

Plastic or glass boards will dull knives over time. I like maple. I’ve heard many pros swear by butcher block.

@VeryHappy

Our commercial grade plastic cutting boards will fit in our laundry sink for bleaching. That’s my hot tip of the day. :slight_smile:

We have several of the epicurean brand.

They are thin enough to stack n a drawer, light, won’t grow stuff, and go in the dishwasher.
I have found most of mine at Home Goods or other discount places, not Sur la Table prices!

Dunno, have had acrylic cutting boards for decades and they go in the dishwasher regularly and are fine. Our knives are fine. I have heard glass boards would dull knives.

Love our epicurean cutting boards.

I have a question that I don’t think needs its own thread. Any women with very curly, frizzy hair that want to share their favorite shampoo and conditioner? I blow dry mine straight with the aid of a flat iron. I’ve been using Kerastase for the last few years and am not unhappy but do like to try new things. Anyone with my hair type who’s found a recommendation worthy option?

I have curly and sometimes frizzy hair and the one thing recommended is NOT to use a blow dryer on it. Is yours still frizzy after you straighten it?

I’ll check on the name of my newer leave-in conditioner I use for curly hair - I really like it!

I get antsy and switch around a lot for no reason. Lately I like the banana shampoo and conditioner from The Body Shop. I have liked the leave-in conditioner from Paul Mitchell for years. I have curly/frizzy hair and use a microfiber turbie twist towel to get some moisture out. I add mousse and air dry.

I love the Mitchell serum. And the conditioner that comes with Clairol Natural Instincts. (I no longer do coloring myself, but have dozens of unused tubes, if you want one. :slight_smile: )
And love when my hair will lay flat. Humidity is not my friend.

This is what I use. I’ve been using it about 6 weeks and like it. Of course, fall isn’t prime frizzy time (for me its summer) but I like the lightness of this.

Does anyone have a current paper coupon for buy buy baby they can PM me (I need either the MO code or barcode#) thanks!

@Marilyn , @coralbrook and anyone else who may know about San Diego weather and fashion - I am attending a conference there next week. I’m guessing it will be “business” casual or a little nicer. Should I bring booties, or flats as my primarily shoes? At home I’d do booties, but if it’s warm there that might be wrong?
Thanks in advance

@1214mom - either would be fine. People definitely do wear booties in the fall and winter as a style, not for weather. You won’t need fleece lined! Or you could wear The Official Footwear of San Diego - flip flops ;).

@collage1 I’ve been using R+Co Gemstone shampoo and conditioner, and Purology Hydrate shine drops. Been very happy with the frizz control and smoothing.

@ucbalumnus
Who do they think they are, airlines? :slight_smile:

Yes. Just like the airlines, there are expenses to cover (e.g. rent and staff salaries) with the revenue from patient visits. When a patient no shows, the expenses still need to be covered. Providers try to minimize lost revenue by overbooking to the no show rate. However, there are days when everyone shows resulting in extended wait times.

OK, CC-ers. I need your collective wisdom.

I just returned from walking my dogs in the woods. As you might know, it’s freezing in the Northeast today, although not as cold as it will become later in the winter. I was all bundled up with my down coat, scarf and hat – but my hands were freezing, and I need The Best, Warmest Gloves that exist in the entire universe.

What are your recommendations?

My suggestion would be to go into REI if you have one near you, and try on a bunch and see which you like. You can try them in the weather, and if they don’t work they have a very generous return policy.
You could do the same thing via mail I supposed, but I’m really bad at getting returns in the mail.
ETA - We just got the REI 20% off 1 item coupon, and they have 25% off Outdoor Research gloves, etc. coming up.

Ny neighbor taught me that mittens are much warmer than gloves. They are a real game changer. Bought mine from Lands End.
