Dog went to potty, came back in a roomy car and quality time continues in the drive. How did it get lost? Not sure but they seem too happy to greet the dog if only a pit stop.

Lol. I thought there was some deeper meaning to that scene… ?

Since I don’t watch tv with commercials these days, I had to go look it up.

People like dogs. Good shots of the vehicle, especially like the shot through the large panoramic sunroof. I didn’t find the family’s response to the dog’s return that much of an overreaction, maybe because I have friends who are huge dog nuts who make this seem tame by comparison. At least there was no baby talk to the dog.

If you drive it, he will come.

Prior family dog returns to life in magic corn field for one more special trip?

So we dropped my daughter off for her last semester of school. She lent her apartment to a friend. Her roommates also sublet there’s during their 5 week break…

The girl she rented to said she was “itchy”…

She is pretty sure her bed has bed bugs. Agh…

The landlord told her she needs to pay but gave her a name of someone. That is actually not the law in Wisconsin.

So I get to drive up there… (only 2 hours away) and help her deal with this. Gotta find a laundromat.

If anyone has experience… Let me know. We Googled many sites and hopefully someone can come out today. Aghh

Lol, thank you all for the ad analysis. I rarely watch TV, but because of the snowmaggedon we have been glued to the “free” local news (via our $20 pancake antenna) this week - hence commercials. This ad was, I swear, shown every commercial break. I thought there might have been some prequel to the dog commercial that I have not seen. I am not a fan of poorly trained dogs… a dog that was let out to pee and instead of quickly doing her business ran into a wheat field is not a well trained dog. The choice of music is poor, too. Kinda does not make me want to look at the car (took me a couple of views to even realize that it was a Volvo). Volvo should fire the studio that made the ad. Geico raccoons, Mayhem, and the classic Marshawn Lynch ads for a local plumbing powerhouse are hysterical though.

It’s subdued but I like it and the song. It’s got you talking about it.

Because it is so annoying and pointless… not everything that gets me taking about is automatically makes me a fan of.

You like the ad because you are a lifetime fan of Volvo. Confirmation bias is not a bad thing, but a good ad also has to draw new potential customers to the product. Volvo fails miserably in this pointless ad with mismatched music. IMO.

I went and watched the commercial. I couldn’t figure out the point of it, maybe it’s meant to leave it up to the viewer to view it how it relates to them. I noted to my H a few nights ago that a lot of commercials are going to the play music and video with no talking. We need someone who is involved in marketing to explain the trend to us.
@BunsenBurner I hate those mayhem commercials just like I hate most car insurance commercials.

@mom60, I should have said that the ones I like is the cat and dog mayhems.

I like most of the mayhem commercials, especially the Tina Fey MIL one where she says, “How did you make someone I love?”

But ask me the insurance company buying that advertising … no clue. And funny, silly, clever insurance commercials have zero impact on my insurance buying decisions.

New question.- I purchased plane tickets under 4 different bookings, plus my D purchased tickets under a 5th booking. The charges initially showed as pending on my credit card. My D also had a pending charge on her card. The charges haven’t yet appeared on the two bills and are no longer showing as pending. When you put in the e ticket number the tickets show up as confirmed. Has anyone else had this happen? All tickets on the same airline and both my D and I have credit cards with the same company.

I’ve had this happen when they give you 24 hrs to change your mind. They then put in the charge and confirmation number appears. You could call the airlines and ask.

Did your tickets all confirm, @mom60?

The tickets confirmed and I called airline but still not charged on credit cards. I’m sure it will come through at some point.

Is anyone rethinking whether to travel or cut way back on discretionary travel due to all the uncertainty due to the new coronavirus? H is getting skittish about our planned upcoming trip to SF, Europe & Philadelphia in April/May.

I’m on airplanes a couple of times/month out of O’Hare. I’m concerned, but I’m going to stop my domestic or European travel. At least not yet…

I’m not rethinking my travels but I’m not going till mid May. My DIL travels several times a year to China for work but I don’t think she has a trip scheduled till early June. She sometimes has coworkers based in Asia here but I don’t know if her company has made any changes due to the virus.

We have a lot of houseguests flying in from early February to Early March. They’re not coming from China, or anywhere in Asia, but I’m getting nervous about how this is spreading.

Light bulbs. I need the brightest possible soft white 100 watt equivalent - which type will appear brightest? Halogen? LED? CFL? Is it all in my head that some types appear less bright?
