Rank the best college cities

I realized the other day that the United States has areas that are "education hubs" ie cities or towns that have many top universities in them. Just for kicks, rank the "smartness" of the following cities.

1)Cambridge/Boston (MIT, Harvard, Tufts, Boston College, Boston University, Northeastern...)
2)New York City (Columbia and NYU)
3)Philadelphia (UPenn and Drexel)
4)Research Triangle/ Raleigh, NC (Duke, NC State, UNC, Wake Forest)
5)Chicago (University of Chicago, Northwestern, University of Illinois Chicago)
6) Los Angles Area (USC, Cal Tech, Harvey Mudd, UCLA, Claremont McKenna, Pomona)
7) San Francisco Bay Area (Stanford and UC Berkley)

I did my best to list the best schools in those areas, I may have forgotten some and its no offense to those schools.

I did not put them in order, I just listed the area's I thought were "smart". Feel free to add places.

I thought this was interesting.

For Philadelphia, you should also include Swarthmore, Haverford, and Bryn Mawr (and if you want to be even more expansive, Villanova, Temple, St. Joe’s, La Salle, U. of the Arts, Philadelphia University, U of the Sciences . . . :)).
