I am pretty sure I read somewhere that S. Korea has the MOST applicants as a percentage of its population. It also has the MOST number of students (in terms of its relative population) getting accepted to top US universities.

as regards to questions from the OP:

1) which countries have the most applicants in terms of absolute numbers? it's clear from the stats; india is #1, followed by #2 china and #3 korea.

2) which countries have the most applicants as a percentage of its population? since china has a population of 1.3 plus billion and india close to 1 billion, maybe korea has the largest applicants as a percentage of its population as korea is #3 in terms of absolute number but has much less population compared to china and india.

3) which countries have the highest acceptance rates to us colleges? the question is not clear. does it mean the highest average acceptance rate by countries? or the highest acceptance rates to top 10-30 colleges? if the OP asks for the highest acceptance rates to the ivies/elites (out of the applicant pool from each individual country), singapore might be #1. if you look at the figure, applicants from singapore, by absolute number, is not even among the top 10 but singapore has only a few millions population. i was told that singapore has the highest number of applicants accepted to top schools when percentagewise compared with other asian countries. i don't have the official figures to verify, unless one is willing to go through school by school to search for the country breakdown.
