just got into Berkeley law school.

Here it is: UC Berkeley Law, J.D.

UC Los Angeles, B.A

Rate me on my prestige on a scale of 0-10. Yeah.

Rate me on my prestige on a scale of 0-10. Yeah.

huh? your prestige? as in like how awesome you are for getting into berkeley law? I say a 9? especially for people in California :)

In NorCal, a 9. Socal, an 8. Outside of California? 7. Northeast? 6.

Keep in mind that Boalt has been on the rise the past couple of years. A JD from Cal will get you a good job in California but if you go elsewhere, you won't hold nearly as much against people from the Yales, Harvards, Stanfords, Columbias, and NYUs of the world (which only matters if you're looking at places like Mo&Fo, Skadden, K&K, etc). That being said, good job.

wow. what a narcissistic post.

prestige? assuming you do well there and graduate and work at a high paying firm and dont mind 80 hours a week then i could give you a 8

happiness? maybe 2. especially considering you need to brag to strangers on CC instead of your close friends or family

seriously, what a narcissistic post!

What are you guys talking about? Boalt is still a T14, which is pretty impressive.

No doubt about it. Any of the T14 are impressive stuff but like others have said, someone who needs to come on CC to tell the world he got into Boalt isn't going to be happy when he/she goes up against people from schools that are higher ranked and have more historic prestige.

Check back in with us in three years and we'll see how you feel about prestige then.

Haha the OP has another thread about how prestigious Berkeley is in Asia..
Have more confidence in yourself or transfer to Harvard Law school. Then you won't have to ask random people how prestigious your school is.

Just as an added note, it's no longer Boalt -- it's the (UC) Berkeley School of Law. This went into effect January 2008.

UC Berkeley dropping Boalt Hall from law school's official name

It is a bit abrasive to ask my friends to fathom my prestige. So I decided to come here to get an estimate.

zheng:

9/10

namaste, I am not trying to brag to strangers on CC. Why would I want to do that? All I am trying to do is to get a rough idea about my lay prestige. You can say I am insecure. That is fine. I accomplished what I accomplished today precisely because of my deep-rooted insecurity. So that's fine.

yahooo, I will try to transfer to HLS. That will be my goal going into Boalt.

MiqueMaus, unless you go to Yale law school, there will always be somebody who is more prestigious than you. Harvards wont hold nearly as much against people from Yales. Likewise,Columbias wont hold nearly as much against Yales and Harvards. You get my point. Keep things in perspective.

flopsy, 9/10 is pretty good. Thank you.

would this be your prestige or berkeley school of law's prestige?

it is the way the OP worded his first post that's eliciting all the comments of narcissism.

writing something so bluntly, without any disclaimer, leaves it open to that interpretation. might've been different if OP had explained WHY he was asking his question- otherwise it can look like a statement of bragging.

just my two cents. also, anyone going to law school needs to learn how to phrase sentences so that they don't offend and aren't easily misconstrued. you have GOT to be an eloquent speaker/writer. work on that.

advice taken.

I think the OP is just being funny in the attempt to mask insecurity......hehehe
