Nope I applied RD and submitted my application on January 1st.
I think it depends on where you live, I am French and have been contacted by an alumna living in Paris. Maybe the person you were assigned to just hasn’t started interviewing yet?
Cornell asked me for an interview, but there is a button to request an interview in the right side of portal " Request a Meeting with an Alumni Admissions Ambassador
If you have an interest in an alumni contact meeting through the Cornell Alumni Admissions Ambassador Network (CAAAN), please complete our form to request a meeting."
As for UPenn, I applied in mid December and haven’t received any interview
When my kids applied to colleges, each school’s website made it pretty clear whether interviews were offered, whether they were done by college staff or by alumni volunteers, and whether the applicant had to ask for one or whether they were offered routinely and automatically to all applicants.
I will also note that for schools that rely on alumni to conduct interviews, some students may not be offered an interview due to lack of local alumni, and that some regional alumni groups (and some individual alumni) may be slower to contact their assigned interviewees than others. In other words, the fact that someone else 500 miles away (or even 5 miles away) was offered an interview last week and you weren’t is not cause for panic.
i’m not sure if this is the right place to ask (and if there’s a better place, please give me pointers!) but did anyone else get an email recently from princeton asking for an alumni interview?? i just got one like a couple minutes ago and i’m kind of shocked. i was somehow under the impression that princeton wasn’t doing many interviews this year, but idk, i could be wrong.
Is it just one person interviewing you from Princeton or a group? I heard from someone that Princeton is doing group interviews this year where this is one main interviewer and then like 3 others (all alumni).
@earnestly @charlesoxy82 As in past years, Princeton is attempting to offer alumni interviews to all applicants (last year, 98% of applicants were offered an interview). This year, of course, all interviews will be virtual. The standard practice is for each applicant to be interviewed by one alum; if any alumni or regional alumni committees are deviating from that approach, they are the exception, not the rule.
I applied SCEA to Yale and received an interview and RD to Harvard and had my interview a little over 2 weeks ago! With Vanderbilt the portal allowed me to say I would like an interview. I applied to Vandy RD and had my interview about 6 weeks ago. Best of luck to everyone!
Son received interviews with Penn, Harvard, Cornell and Today he received one from Yale.
I’ve had my Princeton, Harvard interviews, both through email invitation; waiting on Dartmouth, and I thought Vandy’s interviews were by request?
My son just had an interview with Princeton. It was not a group
So far, I’ve had interviews for Stanford, Harvard, Princeton, and UPenn
My daughter had an interview with Dartmouth alumni last weekend (facetime) . The request came directly from the interviewer to her email.
My daughter had interviews with Dartmouth and Harvard, has an upcoming one with Princeton. Hasn’t heard from Penn or Cornell yet.
For Princeton, did the interviewer contact you? I got an email from Princeton admissions office saying that the alumni interviewer will contact me but it also gave me the interviewer’s email address. Should I reach out to her as it has been a week?
The interviewer is supposed to initiate the process. I’d give it another week, and if you haven’t heard anything by then, reaching out might be a good idea.
My interviewer did contact me via email. I go to school in NYC if that helps per a timeline.
I go to school in Iowa and I’ve gotten interviews for Princeton, Harvard, and UPenn so far. they all contacted me by email.
UK based Chinese student. Had Duke and Middlebury interview, waiting for NYUAD/Yale/Northwestern.
Northwestern sent an email shortly after the application deadline that gave applicants a deadline to which to request an interview. I believe it was Jan 9. If you didn’t request one by that date then you most likely won’t be receiving an interview. If you don’t get one, it has no bearing either way.
Vanderbilt you have to request one, but they say there are not enough alumni to do them and they’re random.
Is Vanderbilt still doing interviews?
