Recommendations:
1 from AP Chemistry teacher (had him for Adv. Chem and AP, very close) - Excellent
1 from AP Lit teacher (had sophomore year and currently in her class) - Excellent
1 from State Credit (summer job) - They all loved me. Very good

Essays:
Why Penn? - Passionate, lots of research, humorous
217/300 - My lit teacher loved it. She does admissions for her college. Forward-looking, progressive, bold, energetic.
CA Essay - Possibly cliche? Described myself as a composite of my parents, clubs, school, and traveling experiences.

Definitely in!

I think your "Why Penn?" essay will really help you out at Yale.

:P

Haha! Oops! I was rushing and just did the old copy/paste. I used the same essays, just modified the prompts and changed the school name. The Why Penn? essay was too specific to UPenn, so I didn't use that for Yale.

I am sooo nervous about my chances! It seems like all the CC'ers are unique, incredible students!

Thanks for the response!

why penn, lol, that's funny

i think the autobiography one from penn would be great for yale's supplemental essay; i like those kinds of essays - they really show the creativity of some people

My background is similar to yours: Male, non-international (your application portrayed you as non-int.), public school, grades that are great in context but not against all these CC geniuses. I was wondering the same thing-"how can I keep up with these other ccers?" but its ok because our essays and ECs show passion, commitment and enthusiasm. Right!?!?!

us RDers have to wait untill March so lets just try and relax and keep our fingers crossed eh?

The only hope I have is that the CC'ers only represent a small population of the students we have to go up against. The best students care the most about their futures, so obviously the best students would be on here. Thus, it seems like all CC'ers are incredible students. In actuality, they only represent a small portion of students applying to these colleges...Either that or I'm just rationalizing :P. Good luck to you pomegranate...Btw, I had pomegranate a few days ago, great stuff!

^^^good name eh? lol
and yes it is rationalization, but I am thinking the same thing.... like i said, figers crossed
