O, and fyi, if GW is truly your first choice, you can still apply ED II!

I have a very solid rec from my guidance counselor and from my french teacher whom I've had for three years. I wrote my essay on my first trip to the opera and I thought that was pretty solid as well. So what do you guys think? I'm either applying for communications or political communications. Which is harder? Any opinions, thoughts, or knowledge? Thanks guys!

hey sopranosweety! You've got similar stats to me- I think you're good! (Do you agree hippodrome?) Are you applying elsewhere?

Yeah soprano! I think you have a very strong shot. The GPA is low-ish, but your SAT makes it better.

what is the average GPA for entering freshman at GWU? Either weighted or unweighted. I thought that a 3.6 unweighted was pretty average for GWU.

Yeah, it just depends on where you are coming from. If you are coming from one of the top boarding schools/Day schools in the country, that's good. Also, if your hs ranks, they put that in greater consideration. I went to a really crappy public, and a 3.6 is nothing at my hs, but at others, it's an accomplishment. Keep in mind that GW mainly uses your rank over GPA.

Gah, my school doesn't rank. I do come from a highly rated private school in Jersey. a 3.6 UW at my school probably puts me in the top 25% but I can't give an exact rank. Oh well, we shall see what happens.

I think that you stand a VERY strong chance, both of you! =)

What school in nyu did u apply to?? I don't kno why they would reject you!!!!

I applied to Gallatin at NYU. Its the school of indiviual studies. The easiest way to explain it is that its the school where you make your own major. NYU is crap shoot. I mean if you have the right scores for NYU, after that you have NO idea what it is that will make them want you or not want you. Oh well, now I just need to see what the rest of the schools think about me. I don't really have a 1st choice anymore but I can definitely say that I liked GWU when I visited so its probably up there on my list.
