Any word on the waitlist for W&L for this year?
I doubt that will come out until later this month at the absolute earliest. Most likely after May 1, National Commitment Day. Best of luck with the waitlist.
It’s quite shocking the stats of some of these people who are waitlisted vs. the average of those who got in. I just wonder the reasoning in decisions. The average accepted student this year had a 33 ACT, according to W&L’s blog post on their website, yet there’s multiple students with 34s and higher and seemingly great ECs who have been waitlisted, and those with even lower scores who have gotten in. I’m curious what role the search for diversity, URM, and First Gen. students plays into this. Of course, being waitlisted means that you’re smart enough and good enough to get in, but are not the right demographic and if that changes (and your demographic becomes desirable after May 1), you will be admitted. Since I’m not minority or any sort of “desirable” demographic, I doubt I’ll get off the waitlist. It’s all so crazy!
@jebco19 I found it funny too. I’m a white guy, straight, upper middle class public school kid from CA. Not sure if that’s desirable but it is what it is. It seems to me that once you meet their basic academic requirements (and most schools do, holistic or not) it becomes a bit of a shot in the dark. I can’t wait to attend W&L next year.
