Re: GPA CALC. of AACOM and AMCAS

I read in an earlier thread that AACOM and AMCAS have different methods of looking at transcripts. I'm specificaly talking about how they look at a transcript if a course has been retaken.

AACOM will take the highest grade received from taking the course.
AMCAS will take the average of the grades for that class.

Now Im guessing once a person has retaken a science course over their chances of acceptance fall drastically. Emphasis on the word guessing, could anyone clarify?

Thank You in advance

AMCAS will count both grades, as the same course but different grades. If you do better the second time, depending your GPA, this can help you. Perception-wise (the lose-lose situation of retaking has been discussed in other threads) would be a different matter.
