Because GPA is so important for Pre-med and applying to Med school, I was just wondering how the grading is for pre-med students in UCSC, for example, in their biology/chem classes? I know that grading varies teacher-teacher, class-class, but overall how is the grading at UCSC, and is it possible to get the 3.4-3.5ish GPA needed to have a shot at Med school?

Thanks

bump for more answers

You’re going to need much higher than 3.4-3.5 to have a shot at med schools. Think more like 3.7. And yes, it is very possible. I know people who have gone to med school after majoring in biology at UCSC. They spent most of their time in school studying.

I would definitely shoot for a 3.7 or higher; 3.5 is on the low side for medical school admissions. It’s totally possible at UCSC though, I’ve been there for one year and have maintained a 4.0 without too much difficulty.

You can go to Harvard Med if you do good in this school, just like with any other good university. Just ask this girl:

I’m thinking about premed too, but I wanna have fun in college also! Hopefully I can balance. :)

In my opinion, GPA is very important, but also u need to do well on MCAT…

What about transferring from ucsc to a physical therapy school?
