Read this article if you are thinking of taking out a lot of loans to attend your "dream school"

I am wrapping up a nine-year career helping middle-class and underserved students with the college admissions process. In going through my files (to throw most of them out), I came across the article in the link below which talks about a student who took on $130K in debt to attend NYU and how is her life after college. It is an article I give to my students who are thinking of doing the same thing while having other affordable options. The honesty of the article and the author’s desire to help other students really struck me when I read it for the first time in 2013. With some postings I am seeing lately, I think it is a good idea to post it again here on CC. I hope other students will not make the same mistake.

I wonder when she discovered that private loans are not covered by IBR?
