READ THIS!!! It's not paradise afterall....

$5 billion endowment. Professors don't get paid that much, especially at Ivies.

i guess i don't know a whole lot about the whole thing... but from what is common sensible...i feel like they have to pay some attention to it.

i wud believe it coz this is what actually happens! guys we know everything happening on the stage....u dont know wats behind the curtain!!! Keep your fingers crossed! Thats why acceptance isnt everything!

I just read the "three conditions" and I really don't find such a bid deal with them, except maybe the monkey one. My HS wans money to make a senior fund from me... am I upset that they want money before I graduate, yes, do I blame the school and get all ed off, no, not at all. Especially if I had a good expirence there, which, minus one *** teacher, I did.

well, it isn't like it matters for me. My dad's a truck driver. Yet even my family isn't eligible for financial aid. We figured that out when my sister went through college. Hence the reason i'm not applying.

o shoosh.. we don't want an argument about how much money you have...

seriously.. greg is so sooo qualified .. i hope he gets in ..and with a good finaid package..

just cus ur rich u shouldnt think that people applying with finaid should have less of a chance..
they really do deserve it as much u .. u noe..

i mean i didnt apply for finaid.. but seriously.. even if u felt what u said, u shouldnt say it out loud like this..

im sure columbia tries to meet as much finaid as poss.

well, not everything is perfect, that's all I'm trying to say.

I'm with Carrera_GT, I think it should be factor as well.

I think maybe you guys should just drop the issue. Talking about money in public is usually not very proper, seeing as it can easily offend others and cause tensions. So, keep you're opinions to yourself and no one will get upset. But about the article, I guess it's good to be somewhat disillusioned before I hear back about ed.

oh i think money should be a factor too. people who have less should be given GREATER consideration b/c they have had less to work with. they can't afford to live somewhere with great schools, have private tutors, take music lessons for 10 years, etc. And often these people are the least informed about the college process. doesn't make then any less qualified for a great education. now i'm saying this should be the case. but this world is driven by greed so i doubt it ever will be.

Well, scorpio... different opinions is what makes this county so great...

Scorpio: Say it, brother!

Carrera: I'm tired of Americans thinking that freedom of expression or whatever makes their country special. There's plenty of countries where freedom of expression is accepted. America wasn't even the first.

Did I say we were the first?

And what do you mean by "their," are you an international student?

I'm a citizen of Russia.

And no, I'm not communist. Vigorously anti-so.

Cool......

I never thought for a second that you were a commie, lol... and personally, I would not care if you were one.

i support socioeconomically based affirmative action!

Well said Scorpio, you make very valid points.

lol thanks anti. and i'm a girl ;)

carrera, yes you are entitled to what you believe even though i may think it's wrong/immoral and completely illogical. i was shocked that anyone could think this! or at least anyone who in every other way seems like an intelligent/nice guy. but i guess you're just looking out for yourself and there's a rationality in that, tho it is cold-blooded.

thanks pedro. and i agree w/ contessa: we need socioeconomically based affirmative action! harvard is sort of trying that, but then again, they can.

I like to call myself a Machiavellian Democrat... if that makes any sense.
