Really an Increase in # of Applicants @ Midd?

Urbanslaughter
Sorry it is your logic at fault as US News working with stale admissions data that was clearly distorted. The future does not look bright for Midd in SO important USN rankings!

Arcadiot, was that an attempt to prove my point? Your argument didn’t even address my point. Just saying something doesn’t make it so.

Aracadoit - you still havent responded to my question about why you care, for one. and for two… how you get the idea that Midd is about to fall so far in the rankings. Seems to me they have an incredibly high grad rate and alumni participation - clearly considered in those same rankings. Again, what is your interest and why is it so darn negative? Rejected and remain unhappy where you are?

Modadunn
Do you really think this is ETHICAL behavior on the part of Midd to continually post on CC w/o disclosing their PR efforts and more importantly gaming USNWR stats and focusing on USNWR rankings?

You said it best in your post-“Middlebury stopped counting incomplete applications three years ago (for the last two years only counted completed applications). And yes, maybe it is a little easier to apply to middlebury without an additional essay and.or graded paper”

As clarification, in 2008 Midd counted incomplete apps which is the basis of USNWR 2010 rankings.

Why did they ever start counting incomplete apps??

Arcadiot - I think your questions have been fully answered. I don’t think any further explanations would satisfy you. You will just continue to spew nonsense about things that really don’t matter.
I notice that you haven’t posted since shortly after the admission decision in 2007. Where have you been and why haven’t you answered Modadunn questions instead of raising the same senseless points and ramblings. Still dissatisfied and bitter? Its time to get over it, get a life and move on.
PS I do not work for Midd or any other school.

Welcome newcomer! Glad to see your FIRST post is so aggressive!
Great to get a fresh prospective/alias! Any relation to:

If truly new to CC can you answer my simple question{

Why did Midd ever start counting hundreds of incomplete apps in computing acceptance percentage??

I think arcadiot should seek counseling for his deep bitterness over his experience. I also think we should all ignore him, then he won’t get the secondary gain…It’s kind of like me and Kwu over whether Amherst is preppy or not. The more said, the longer the thread is in the top…

I get excited to check the Midd forum every day, and my aniticipation and glee falls through the floor when I find that it is the continuation of some disgusting online arguement. Arcadiot, please, for the sake of my sanity, drop it. You aren’t making any friends here, and your point is not being taken seriously because no one cares. Go ■■■■■ some other forum. Please. In the words of Chris Crocker “Leave [Middlebury] Alone!”

In my defense, while I do try harder than most, I do not use any aliases in CC. But also in an effort to be fair to Arcadiot, there is a vast network of individuals at Middlebury (and for that matter, every other school that rejected him) who have conspired to confuse him with logical arguments. Clearly it’s been a great success and we . . . Oops, I mean “they”, having achieved their goal, can now stop.

Really, you’re not just paranoid. We’re all out get you. I swear it’s the truth. Thank god we’ve got Middlebury’s money behind us. Otherwise it would never be possible.

Urbanslaughter- Show me the MONEY!

Did you see this story in Money Magazine less then a year ago?

[Middlebury College: Coping with recession - Apr. 10, 2009](Middlebury College: Coping with recession - Apr. 10, 2009)

But as Middlebury’s endowment, which weighed in at $885 million last June, shed $200 million in the last six months of the year, the costs of the growth spurt hit home. Days before the Axinn Center’s dedication in October, Middlebury’s president, Ron Liebowitz, warned that projected deficits could require aggressive spending cuts.

In January the college announced that top officers were taking pay reductions; it froze faculty salaries and launched a voluntary early retirement program. Several student services, including the freshman orientation program, are being scaled back. And that green dining hall, the one with the rooftop vegetation? It’s scheduled to stop serving daily meals after next fall - it will be used for special events instead. Campus conversations, says student government president Hiba Fakhoury, have focused on “awareness and modification of behavior and expectations.”

Swimmingjew,
Please don’t be discouraged by arcadiot’s bizarre obsession with this topic. Middlebury is great school filled with nice, intelligent, creative, happy students who don’t give a hoot if it is ranked 4th, 8th, or 11th. Congrats on your acceptance!

I am shocked to learn that any LAC suffered endowment losses during the financial meltdown, and had to implement budget cuts. Shocked.

Seriously Arcadiot? That’s what you came up with? One big non sequiter? This is no longer fun - just sad. It’s sort of like beating up puppies. Naturally you didn’t get accepted at Midd, but did any college accept you?
