Really determined to go to Stanford University!

*how i can change stanford, in leadership roles, and working with the other brilliant students. *
Hooboy. Please go read up on what S says it looks for. And remember the critical principle of “show, not tell.”

And the physic issues depends on your projected major. You have to remember that, among the 40,000 applicants, many will have stretched their rigor. What year are you now that you already “took” calc as a senior?

AP Calc. I did take rigorous classes: Sophomore year I took AP Euro (5) Junior year I took: AP Comp Sci A (5), AP Environmental Science (4) APUSH (5), and Honors Spanish 3. Senior year I’m taking: AP Lit, AP Comp/Gov,
AP Comp Sci B, Honors English 4, AP Bio/ or I might go to Physics, Pre-Calc (but taking AP Calc AB at Community College). Do you think there’s anything else I need to do to improve my Extra-Cirricluars? Like maybe going to more App Competitions or something? @intparent

I’m taking Calc right now @lookingforward‌

And your possible major?

Medicine or Computer Science/Economics for entrepreneurship @lookingforward

How you can change Stanford? Best laugh of the day. Good luck, I like that you have ambition. :D

I mean like changing something in life. Like how Kevin Systrom created Instagram, who happened to graduate Stanford. @DrGoogle

You mean entrepreneur?

Think cautiously about whether your essay is to show what you hope to gain and believe you can contribute on a grand scale, in the future- or should be a nifty tale that lets them actual glean, for themselves, the sort of person you are and what you bring to the table now and for the next four years. Go read up on what S is looking for. Lots of kids “tell” elites about their ideas and confidence and who has inspired them.

thank ya @lookingforward

bump

Any other comments? Can I be informed about the other colleges I listed other than Stanford? BUMP

Stop bumping… you are getting annoying. You can see that your stats look strong for your other schools, and no one can predict Stanford results with any certainty.

khantimmy, most kids apply to Stanford will write similar essay, I believe. So write something else different so you can stand out.

My son also really wants to attend Stanford. His gpa, grades and classes are similar to yours, but I would say your EC’s are much stronger.

Can anyone post a link about what Stanford is looking for in an essay? And is it really important to apply early to Stanford, or does in not make a huge difference? I know they have some exceptions, but their restrictive policy about not applying early to other schools is somewhat, well, restrictive!

Good luck Khantimmy, it sounds like you really want to go to Stanford and I hope you get in! :)

I’m a broken record on really reading what the colleges put on their own dang websites.

Stanford tends to reject candidates early in SCEA vs defer them like other SCEA schools. I don’t think there is an advantage to apply there early.

None of the elites really care how desperately you want them, how long you’ve dreamed of attending them, how impressive you think you are, or how much you think their wonderful professors and uber bright peers will ensure your successes. You really need to learn as much about a school as possible, what it sees its strengths as, what it truly offers you. Then you can see your match more clearly and the app process is easier.

Thanks so much @chris17mom ! Best of luck to your son also!

@lookingforward none of the admission officers care if you’re begging for them to accept you? Seems about right…what if you amaze them with your ambition to get into their school?
