Hey guys! On my last SAT, I missed 0 in the reading section, but 7 in the writing. This brought my score down 70 points! I keep retaking practice tests, but I can’t seem to improve on the writing!
What are some tips/strategies I can implement to hopefully get fewer questions wrong in the writing section? Thanks!
Although you are continuously taking practice tests, it won’t help if you aren’t learning from your mistakes. I recommend continue taking practice tests, but log each individual question you got wrong and why you got it wrong. Use a notebook or composition book to make your longs. Rewrite the question with the given answer choices, mark which answe you put, and the correct answer. On the side include the explanation from the back of your book on why your answer was incorrect. And if you are still unsure why the correct answer is as is, research grammar and puncaruona rules online. For example, I wasn’t aware the dash(—) could take the place of a colon in certain situations. Following this method will more than likely improved results.
I would recommend Silverturtle’s guide for the writing portion. It wasn’t super helpful for me personally but it seemed to help a lot of people and I know Silverturtle personally and he really knows what he is talking about when it comes to SAT prep.
