So Im going to UC Santa Cruz and I'm just really getting nervous (understandable, right?) and I am majoring in History and want to minor in sociology (although I know I have to take some courses before I declare it) so I want to know about how much free time am I going to have? I plan on take three classes, am considering 4 so yea. Am I not going to have any time in college for at least some fun, or too much or something. I know it depends on major thats why I put it up so I'm hoping I can hear from some alumni that are majoring or majored in history.
Another reason I want to know is because I do something pretty regularly, not going to be too specific but will say I heard its frequent in the ucsc party scene,(hope someone figures it out) and am wondering am I not going to have any time for it anymore between school and work? (I plan on working during second quarter not my first one)

Overall, How much time free time(true free time i.e. done with homework and studying and classes) am I going to have?! I would really appreciate some reassurance.

ps. sorry about this big long thing, I have anxiety and am a little paranoid (<<<reason I do that something regularly)

soo yea. help please?

“I have anxiety and am a little paranoid (<<<reason I do that something regularly)”

Hmm… what if “doing something regularly” could also contribute to why you are anxious and paranoid… I know; couldn’t be…“doing something regularly” actually helps…

1) your post is a trip (what?)
2) not the way it goes, was recommended to me (on one of my extra freaked out days)and turned out to be way better than stupid anxiety medication.

“way better than stupid anxiety medication.”

So … it’s all good then, and you don’t need any help!

Sorry… I am not working now. Peace out.

sorry when I first looked at your reply it was all jumbled, i guess something with the site, but yea. it helps. and yes I still need an answer!

Check with whoever recommend “doing something regularly”. Let them know it helped, but you still have a problem. Drives me nuts when those who recommend “doing something regularly” aren’t around when you still have a problem.

And it’s not you (tempting to let you think it is!); I’m on a tablet, and I have to edit my posts.

I feel like this is deferring from my original question. The anxiety and paranoia aren’t the point neither is the “something”. I just want to know if I’m going to have any free time mister.

It’s maam and I’m through! Sorry!

Excuse me, sorry. I saw mister on your thing and there’s nothing to be sorry about. I get frustrated easily. so I’M sorry maam and thank you for your responses. Again, I apologize for being rude.

I guess I’m just trying to offer a word to the wise. I am 52 years old, and I study “anxiety,” et al, for a living.

Easier said than done, but take it from me; don’t sacifice more time than benefit to "doing something regularly’'.

Thanks This helps with my question. and yeah, I’m still going through my teenage “I know everything phase” I try to keep myself on check though. Thanks again for the yoda words! :)

As for your questions:
How much free time will you have? (Among School, Work, “Fun”, and either Alcohol or Drugs.)

Honestly, there is no way to determine that because you’ll need to figure out what classes you’re going to take first. Your major determines what classes you take but then those classes determine how much free time you have.

But coming from my experience, you will have plenty of free time as long as you’re smart about time management and get your schoolwork asap (unless you’re taking 3 super hard classes that requires plenty of studying and homework).

As for the alcohol or drugs, I have plenty of friends that indulge themselves frequently throughout the quarter and still have free time leftover or have time to do schoolwork. But it’s just common sense to be smart about it and do it on a Friday or Weekend.

As for work, you have to be really careful about that to make sure you still get good grades. I had problems my first year because I worked so much and didn’t have enough time to study. Hopefully you don’t have the same problems.

If you find that you don’t have time for “something” anymore, just call me up and I’ll happily take that “something” off your hands.

But seriously, just work on adapting to your new environment and schedule, and you’ll be fine with time. Secret: Success isn’t about intelligence or going stone cold sober, it’s about adapting. Those who adapt survive, those who can’t don’t.
