Originally I planned to take five AP exams this year: AP Microeconomics, AP Macroeconomics, AP English Literature, AP English Language, and AP Japanese. Out of all these exams, AP English Language and AP Japanese I am retaking them this year because I did not do well on their AP tests last year. For my AP Economics classes, we are doing a lot of prep work in class but I still feel I need to do some review work on my own in order to get a five. For two of the AP English classes, they are quite similar but I need to do a lot of prep work on my own because I am not naturally a good reader and writer. Recently I found out with all my sports and music commitments, it is really hard to study AP Japanese on top of all these things (unless I stop socializing). The reason why I wanted to retake the AP Japanese test in the first place was actually because I wanted to do an internship in Japan during my gap year (there is a chance that I might not go to college right away). I even signed up for a class this year to help me prepare for it. But at this stage, I just feel I do not have enough time to study AP Japanese unless I stop socializing. Do you guys think it is wise to give it up and not take the AP Japanese test this year?
I would give up the exam. Just taking the exam wouldn’t help you in your gap year at all. I’d just learn casually to prepare for your actual experience in Japan.
