Remember your thead’s title: you were afraid you wouldn’t get into any college…and now you know that no matter what, you’re going to college next year!
Look at dorming costs for Manhattan since a 1h commute would be a lot.
I know this was posted a while ago, but I wish you luck with Manhattan. If you don’t get in now, maybe you can transfer there. I went to Manhattan College and had a great experience. When you graduate from Manhattan, you will find alumni in all fields throughout the Tri-State area. Connections on Wall Street, in the business world, education, communications, etc. will be a big help when you start your career. College is what you make of it. Seek out help from college tutors, study a lot, talk to your professors, and make internships a priority. Use the career offices to make connections with former grads. Make new friends by joining clubs on campus. I commuted all 4 years across the Bronx to school but had many friends in the dorms. I often stayed over with them and hung out after classes sometimes too. In that way, I kind of had the dorm experience. Best of luck to you!
You applied to Hunter. So did my daughter. She did not get into there but she got into Albany and U of Buffalo. Anyway, Hunter has a promise that if you go to CC and have a 2.5 GPA they will accept you.
Also Buffalo State is an easier SUNY 4 year to get into. I think Empire State is also relatively eas
Hi @MYOS1634 , @kley @PhiaNYC just wanted to give everyone an update. I didn’t get into Manhattan College. I was waiting for the interview, and I kept following up, but I never heard back. However, I did get into St. Bonaventure (thru HEOP) and I committed yesterday!
Congratulations!!! Wow! It’s an excellent college! Betrer than Manhattan actually!!?
And thanks to HEOP you get to have a six week headstart, living on campus in the summer, doing all kinds of fun stuff, for free!
Reneead all the thread, especially dustyfeather’s advice.
(Penn State has that too, called LEAP and it costs $8,000 extra, for instance).
@briejax I hope you love St. Bonaventure! I graduated from there more than 20 years ago and still love it.
