Can anyone answer this question? I’m not really sure what colleges look at, whether it’s diversity, standardized tests, extracurricular activities, or GPA. My highest SAT score was 900 (taking it for the 3rd time next month) but my gpa is 3.6 (out of the 4.0 scale). I do try really hard in school but I’m only behind in my math class. I’m also a little diverse… Chinese Jamaican and Scottish. Since my SAT score is so low will colleges accept my gpa and extra carricular activities? I feel like every one I apply to will deny me. Currently looking at UB, SUNY Cortland, SUNY Potsdam and more SUNY schools.
My sat score is so damn low it discourages me.
If you fit the income parameters, apply for the EOB programs at the various SUNY schools as they are more forgiving of lower SAT scores. What do you want to study? Why did you choose the SUNY’s you listed?
Sorry, EOP! I was just looking at my health insurance stuff…
Was does your GPA come out to on a 100 point scale?
Potsdam is SAT optional. You may have a good chance of being admitted there. The other schools will be a stretch is you are not EOP eligible.
Yes, I believe you can get into college. SUNY Empire State and SUNY Delhi (college of technology) are also test optional. If you are open to private colleges and universities, there are many test optional schools. Here is a link https://www.fairtest.org/university/optional/state
Thanks for the reply! I’m getting into studying kinesiology and exercise physiology in attempts to go further in Physical Therapy post grad, I only discovered that I really have a passion for this stuff a couple of months ago but I don’t know if they will accept me just because of my sat score. The schools that I’m looking at is mainly about costs. My parents don’t want me to go to a college with a tuition over 30k, despite scholarships. I don’t think I am eligible for EOP because my family is financially stable… I think. I’m currently taking 3 practice tests a week and *update my gpa is really not 3.6 it’s like 2.9 and my highest sat was 970
You might want to start out at a community college to do your gen eds. SUNY now has a program whereby people are guaranteed admission to a 4 year school. Go onto SUNY.edu and look for the programs you are interested in to see which schools offer them. Then see what you would need to study at CC in order to transfer. Look at the articulation agreements to see what courses transfer and how.
Good luck.
