I was recently denied to the college of my choice and am now forced to go to my backup school. I really want to reapply but I don't know if I should attend my backup school for a year and build a strong academic record(along with extra curricular activities) for the first semester, or take a gap year, spent in a worthwhile way(working, volunteering, or do a project) while improving my SAT and SATII scores(I know I can improve it significantly because the lazy me only practiced for, literally, 2 hours the night before my sat) considering that I would only have SIX MONTHS (is that enough for any working experience or project?) to show the college of my choice my improvement. Can you please analyze the two options for me? Also, if I were to take online classes during this period, where would they count toward? Are there online classes that don't count toward anything? Like, just a class? As for financial aid, would that be less for a transfer? Sorry I know I have a lot of questions, but I'm very confused so I hope you understand!

Check college websites, some consider you a transfer applicant if you take as little as 1-post HS college course.

FA for transfers depends on the college, many give less FA to transfers, some treat transfers the same as fr admits. Merit aid is much less frequent and usually for smaller amounts than for fr applicants.
