Recalculated UC GPA

when UC’s recalculate your GPA for admission, do they add an extra point for every honors/AP course, or only up to 8?

i understand that for elegibility, UCs only consider up to 8 honors courses, but my high school counselor told me that for the actual admission decision process, all honors courses will give you an extra point.

thanks.

Depends on the honors course. Only select honor courses within a California is weighted, such as a third year of English or Foreign Language. Therefore, not all honors courses are weighted. You could look up what honors courses are weighted for your school in some UC website.

Here is the web page to look up the UC approved courses for your school:

<a href="https://pathways.ucop.edu/doorways/list/%5B/url%5D">https://pathways.ucop.edu/doorways/list/</a></p>

The ones with a gold star count as an extra point.

My daughter took all honors and AP courses and her high school gpa counts them as extra point but only a couple of the honors courses got the extra point for the UC gpa. All AP courses get the extra point.

sorry, i'm digging this up from god knows when...
but it was my understanding that they only weight 4 honors classes (8 semesters)
and if you're out of state...do they still decide which honors courses deserve the extra point or do they just say whatever...
this really doesn't matter since i've already submitted my application..but i don't think i know my UC GPA..haha

How do community college courses weigh in?

i'm pretty sure that uc only counts upto 8 honors courses..

i WISH they counted all those are elligible for UC honors credit.

i'm pretty sure that they will count, at least ucla, 8 for UC eligibility, but for admissions, they count all those that deserve credit according to the uc pathways website.
