S is taking 7 AP classes and did not do well on midterm exams, including 1 D and a couple of C’s. However, quarterly grades have all been A’s and B’s. Could UMD possibly rescind for getting 1 D on a midterm?
I highly doubt it. How would they even know what he got on a midterm exam? Your son’s school will send his transcript which presumably has semester grades on it and not grades from midterm exams. At least that’s what the schools do where I live.
My dd got a D on one of her midterms too and got accepted at UMD EA. I was told that the GC sends only the 2nd quarterly grades for the midterm report no midterm grades They will get the final transcripts at the end of the year so I told my daughter that she needs to keep her grades up. Pretty sure you only have to worry if you have a D or an F for a final grade. Your son will be fine.
I don’t think UMCP requires or even requests midterm grades, just a final transcript. I think as long as your grades are in a pattern similar to what you had before applying, you should be fine.
