Receiving Bright Futures Aid for summer term

I plan on taking 8 credits in the summer. Is there a minimum amount of credits I need to take during the summer term in order to receive bright futures money? Currently, I am considered a full time student.

My understanding is bright futures doesn’t pay for summer unless your in summer/spring cohort. I believe legislature was considering adding summer funding but not sure if that has passed yet

I thought it was included in what they passed last year. So it would count for this summer, but beyond that it depends on what they do this spring.

from the 2017-18 Bright Futures Handbook:

“Be enrolled for at least 6 non-remedial semester credit hours (or the equivalent in quarter or clock hours) per term.”

The summer funding is only available for the Florida Academic Scholars level students.

Page 5 from the 2017-18 Handbook Chapter 2 states that funding in the summer is only available for the Spring/Summer Cohort of the University of Florida. It states further that these students will not receiving funding for Fall semester.

I read the page you’re referring to. It says summer funding is available for Florida Academic Scholars AND to the Spring/Summer Cohort at UF (basically referring to Innovation Academy students, who do not have a fall semester). So Florida Medallion scholars are not eligible for the summer funding, but Florida Academic Scholars are eligible for it. At least for this year.
