<p>its also a mismatch of skills. some people are strapped down by their mortages and so can not leave, some do not want to leave their hometowns even though there’s no jobs for them there. others still do not have the training necessary to fill those jobs. this was an article on businessweek. it was pretty interesting.</p>
<p>There are a lot of jobs in the area of my son’s Uni too. Perhaps the northease and MAR are faring better than the SE, SW and PNW. I spoke to my sister in Northern California and she indicated that things aren’t very good there. They have 10% unemployment which is moderately higher than the New England states.</p>
<p>If you have the right skills, character, temperament, energy, ability to relocate, etc., then there are always jobs. If you’re in your 50s, have skills that are plentiful, have debts, obligations, etc., things may not be so easy.</p>
<p>There are parents that shoot their entire families and then themselves over economic conditions. That should tell you that some people are under extreme stress.</p>
