I volunteered at local animal hospital and i want to become a vet. I dont know im smart enogh to get into vet school tho...there is only 27 vet medicine in this country.

Please recommend me some college. Thanks.

if i were you i'd look at some nice universities (NEVER BE AFRAID TO APPLY SOMEWHERE YOU ONLY ARE GARANTEED NOT TO BE ACCEPTED IFYOU DONT APPLY)! my suggestion is to find a GREAT one that specializes in your field. if that school happens to be private- great. if not, going to a public university will still allow you to get a good job. even if you went to a TERRIBLE college, you'd still become a vet and you'd just make a private practice (which brings in alot of money too). if the university you choose IS private, apply there ED (early decision). when you do, make sure to send a letter with your application explaining you are foreign and that's why you've had to go through as much as you have.

get a book on the colleges and what they're good for.
find one you want (the one you REALLY want).
call that school's admission's office (or write to them) and ask what you need to do and explain your situation.
finally sit down and write out on some note paper what you need to do in order to get in to that college.
then, FOLLOW THOSE NOTES!!!
when you're all done call the admissions office again. explain what you've done and see what your chances are. regardless what they say, apply (and do it ED or EA if they offer it).

i hope you get in. best of luck to ya.

Ok i know this is going to sound really really mean but i just thought the title was hilarious "recommend me some college" lol...anyways

You have some pretty good scores and i dont believe your 9th grade gpa will affect you much. You have a lot of AP and Honors classes which is very good. Four languages!!!! that is awesome.....I think you should emphasize that maybe in your essay.

Ok what you need to do is go ask your Guidance Counselor at school where you are looking to attend and he/she can help you out more than we can or more than you could even do on your own considering you have no clue what to do

school that will always give you the fairest shake when it comes to having a low GPA one year = Reed

The UCs will like the fact that you improved so much too, as long as you can address specific, good reasons why you had a low GPA frosh year. they assign extra points to an app based on "marked improvement from one grade to another"

Also, if you apply to any LACs, be sure to contact teh track coach. If you really are a state-level runner ( i dont know what state you're in) than thats most assuredly bank at any D-3 school, and possibly gets you in to a D1. Friend of mine was Cal state champ in 1600 and 800 and got a full ride to f....ing Duke. She was particularly smart as well, though I don't think her stats were much better than yours. Talk to your track coach about it too.

i wanna go to good school tho. Not like Ivy but inside 50th.

er... Duke is a great school. arguably better than some ivies, even. UCs and Reed are also def. within the top fifty schools. do your research first, don't assume that the colleges that are recommended to you are not good just 'coz they're not HYP.

For Example: UC Santa Cruz is ranked near top 50 nat'l universities. For god's sake, don't be a snob and think that the only thing that distinguishes a good school is if when people who ask you where you're going and you say "____" and they gasp. There are dozens, if not hundreds of colleges in this country with superb graduates who go on to do more than a lot of Ivy grads. Find the sort of college that is good for people like YOU. I'd recommend some more colleges, but I can't really get much of a feel for your interests, other than that you're a korean runner.
College admissions isn't about the sticker on the back windshield of your parent's car... the school that makes you feel like you will fit in, have access to what you want, and that will accept you, will be the "good" college

/enough ranting, I'm just sick of people saying "what are the good colleges"

One last thing,
There are bums who went to Harvard and millionaires who went to City College of San Francisco ('harvard on the hill' as its called here). It all depends on what environment is good for you. If you really feel helpless, post what your interestests are, then we can point you in the right direction

I have to be in good undergrad school to be accepted by vet school. They accepts only about 30% of apps witch is less than medical school.

well, then take comfort in the fact that all the colleges that have been recommended to you so far are great undergrad schools. besides, not to be harsh but you have been recommended colleges that people are pretty sure you have a good shot at. don't expect to be recommended to apply to HYP with say, your low verbal score (i take into account that english is your second language; it's mine too), your GPA that isn't all that exceptional, and sparse E.C. (there are a lot of recruited atheletes who are more involved than you; i know plenty of kids who just came to the U.S. w/in the past three years who also have better E.C.s'). also, going to a good undergrad doesn't guarantee admission to vet school; your GPA and E.C.'s at whatever college you go to (even Podunk College) count more.

Yep, taurus is right, there are higher rates of people from HYP getting into good vet schools because there are higher rates of really motivated people who go to HYP. You can be jsut as motivated at Podunk or Ball State or wherever, and get in to the same vet schools, as long as you have the gpa and test score (MCAT.. what is the test for vets?). One of my teachers in high school taught at an all women's college in georgia for 16 years. It's a fourth-tier liberal arts college.. and guess what, she still has plenty of former students who visit her in the bay area because they're getting their Ph.D.'s at stanford and berkeley. Your education will be what you make of it, not what it makes of you.

Finally, look at UC Davis. They have one of the best vet schools I know, so I imagine their pre-vet programs are probably really good too. I just don't know about that 2.8, but they did just move up to D-1 and might give you a second look if you can see about getting recruited for running.
