Recommendation about TAMS Requested

Hello. I am a freshman living in Allen TX and want to be in TAMS next year. I received my first 8 years of education in China but has satisfactory English ability. Here are some of my basic criterias:
1.SAT: Never taken, but a practice test in Khan Academy suggest a 750 math and a 590 writing;
2.Class Selection:Due to unnecessary concerns, I only chose one AP CSP class and 2 honors classes. However, I can ensure a minimum of A for each subject taken. I will take CBE Geometry, Algebra II and Chemistry in the rest of the school year and is sure to be able to receive all 3 credits.
3.Extracurricular activities: Little voluntary service, no means of leadership of sport activities available because I am new to here.
4.School Rank:No data available, but should be at first 15%.

So, will anybody please offer me any recommendation on field of focus in order to improve my possibility of getting in to TAMS?

Sorry, but I actually mean apply for TAMS next year.

Hi @ViveLaChina

Im a current sophomore and I applied this year to TAMS for early decision in the traditional science track. My freshman year grades were not that good but I improved a lot this year, and my SAT on November was a 1480. Don’t worry too much about your SAT that much because I think you’re in great shape for TAMS so far. Make sure you get high grades, but don’t stress over a B or two because they won’t automatically hinder your acceptance into TAMS. Since you still have a little less than a year to go, I suggest you focus first on grades and your SAT. As this school year draws to a close, you should start writing your essay (it’s only 250 words so finishing it beforehand will let you finish your application sooner) and your short answers. Also, make sure you send an email to TAMS regarding your middle school education as well, because middle school grades are a required component of the application.

I wish you the best of luck in school and for TAMS in the future! If you have any questions, feel free to reply back with my name tag. I’ll get to you as soon as I can.

Hi @itachasuke
That is a very important piece of recommendation for me. Thanks very much.

No problem, @ViveLaChina . Hope you have a great winter break!

hey @itachasuke what was the interview like?

The interview went pretty well I think. In the formal interview, the questions were fairly starightforward but required a little time to process through, and I could tell (in my group especially) that a lot of people were having trouble coming up with “good” answers in the limited amount of time they were given. The informal interview/group challenges part of the interview struck me as very “weird” in the sense that the interviewers (who were current TAMS students) didn’t appear to be taking notes at all. In fact, I’m not sure if they even knew my name because my name badge was flipped! But anyway, I think it went okay, though the group challenges part was kind of unexpected, not gonna lie!

You?
