Recommendation for Summer reading books

My S is graduating from high school and will major String at College.
Would you recommend some good books to read for him?
He liked to read a book when he was young but does not read well from high school.
Of course, there are many good books but I want some good book for the student who
prepare music future.

<p>I recommend The Rest is Noise by Alex Ross - a history of 20th century music. Or Hallelujah Junction - John Adams’ autobiography.</p>

Glassharmonica, I can not sure because my S did not read any music related book yet.
Maybe fiction and nonfiction would be good for the beginning stage.</p>
